Phi Learn is a free revision website. You can use every topic without an account. If you create one, we store what's listed below so your progress follows you between devices. We don't sell your data, show adverts or share your data with anyone for marketing.

Who can have an account
You must be 13 or older to create an account. If you're younger, you can still use all of Phi Learn without one.
What we store and why
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Your first name, email address and password (stored scrambled, so nobody can read it) | To create your account, log you in, and send account emails such as "confirm your email" and "reset your password". |
| Your year group and school (optional) | To suggest the courses other students at your school take. We only ever show counts of three or more students, never names. |
| Your subjects, course, tier and exam dates | To show you the right content and, later, to build your dashboard and revision timetable. |
| Your answers, marks, quiz scores, and which notes, videos and past papers you open | To save your progress and show you which topics are strong and which need work. |
| Your IP address and browser, with each login session | To keep your account secure and stop people guessing passwords. |
We use these only to run Phi Learn for you. Under UK data protection law (UK GDPR), our lawful basis is contract: providing the service you signed up for. For security logging it is our legitimate interest in keeping accounts safe.
Cookies
We use one essential cookie to keep you logged in. There are no advertising or tracking cookies. If you don't have an account, your progress is saved only in your own browser.
Who else handles your data
- Our server host, where the database is stored.
- Resend, which delivers our account emails. It only receives your email address and the email itself.
- YouTube: video thumbnails are loaded from YouTube, and videos open on YouTube, which has its own privacy policy.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while you have an account. When you delete your account, everything linked to it is deleted straight away. Database backups are kept for up to 14 days, then removed.
Your rights
- See your data: use Download my data on your account page.
- Correct it: change your details on your account page.
- Delete it: use Delete my account on your account page.
- You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
School list
The school search uses the Department for Education's Get Information about Schools register. It contains public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0.
